Primary Colors of Light
Another reason why the water is blue is because of the primary colors. The ocean absorbs more of the red color, usually leaving behind a blue and green color because these colors are complementary to red (Bruan and Smirnov). Primary colors are called primary because they add up to white light ("Color Addition").
