Ocean Colors
From either going to different oceans or just seeing different pictures of them you can tell there are all different shades of blue and even some other colors. One of the reasons the ocean looks darker, further and deeper into the ocean, is because the light can't reach it as well as the lower waves crashing on the shore. Seawater soaks up light, leaving the bottom of the ocean dark and cold (Nye). Sometimes, certain seas or rivers can look a different color because of the things in the water. The sunlight is scattered by particles in the water, which changes the color of the water to look like the color of the particles. For example, the Red Sea looks red because of the red algae in the water and the Black Sea looks black because of the high amounts of hydrogen sulfate in the water ("Why is the Ocean Blue?").
